How sustainable is your biofuel?

The climate of international business is driving companies to be more transparent and to consider the full impact of their activities and policies. There is external pressure from governments, customers and stakeholders. Especially, there are growing concerns about the sustainability of biofuels. Some countries, like UK and The Netherlands, have started initiatives to set up sustainability criteria for their biofuel industry. Furthermore the European Commission has launched on Jan 23, 2008 a proposal for a directive on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. In this directive the direction in which the European Commission would like to go is clearly defined. Finally there are other international institutions and roundtables which focus on the development of an international standard for sustainable biofuels.

With its global presence and its expertise in every field of the value chain, SGS is perfectly placed to certify your products and to proof sustainability according to the different legislations, standards and platforms.
